Vision Plus awarded U.S. patent for Automatic Closing Door Proximity Detection
Formula Systems has been granted U.S. Patent No. 12,735,300 covering the Automatic Closing Door Proximity Detection technology at the heart of Vision Plus, its elevator door protection system.
A patent is not a certification or an endorsement. It is a finding by the United States Patent and Trademark Office, reached after examination against everything already published or in use worldwide, that no one has solved the problem this way before. In a product category as mature and as tightly regulated as elevator door safety, that is a high bar to clear.
The technology addresses the door closing zone — the moment in a door cycle when the risk to passengers is highest and conventional detection is hardest to achieve reliably. Automatic Closing Door Proximity Detection was developed specifically to extend protection through that window, rather than treating it as an edge case of a general-purpose sensor.
The grant sits alongside a body of independent recognition for the product. Vision Plus is certified by Liftinstituut and conforms to ASME A17.1-2022/B44-22 and A17.1-2025/B44-25. In 2026 Formula Systems received the King’s Award for Enterprise: Innovation.
